The Story of Hiramani Memorial Hospital
Every great institution is built on a foundation of dreams. For Hiramani Memorial Hospital, that foundation was laid not with bricks and mortar, but with a mother’s teachings and a family’s resilience.
The Inspiration: Smt. Hiramoni Devi The story begins in the humble fields of the Midnapore District, in the home of a farmer’s family. Smt. Hiramoni Devi was a housewife and a mother to five children. Though she did not have the privilege of a high formal education, she possessed a wisdom that shaped the future. She instilled in her children a zest for excellence, but her most important lesson was simple: “Be a good human being, and always give something back to society.”
The Visionary: Dr. Sudhansu Sekhar Jana Carrying these values in his heart, Dr. Sudhansu Sekhar Jana embarked on a medical career that spanned over 35 years in government health services. But personal tragedy had touched his life early; losing his father at a young age, Dr. Jana was raised by his elder brother. This experience taught him the immense power of family bondage and the strength of love during a crisis—values that would later define the culture of his hospital.
Driven by a desire to fulfill his mother's wish and dedicate his life to mankind, Dr. Jana established Hiramani Memorial Hospital in July 2019.
Resilience Through Crisis The hospital began its journey with a focus on mothers and premature infants. However, barely a year after opening, the world was brought to a standstill by the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020, as fear gripped the globe, Hiramani Memorial Hospital stood firm.
While the world locked down, our doors remained open. Led by Dr. Jana and supported by a team of fearless doctors and staff, the hospital became a shield for the people of Krishnagar. We didn't just treat patients; we became their family when their own families couldn't be near.
A Legacy of Growth From those challenging early days, we have grown into a premier 120-bedded multidisciplinary hospital. Today, Hiramani is a beacon of advanced healthcare, boasting state-of-the-art ICUs, NICUs, Dialysis units, and 24/7 emergency services. We have also expanded into education with the Global Hiramani Memorial Nursing Institution, creating the next generation of compassionate caregivers.
Through Our Heritage Foundation, we extend our care beyond the hospital walls—educating slum children and empowering women through vocational training.
